The renovation of the exterior of the 'Boekentoren' in Ghent has been completed. The gigantic crane was used one last time to get a bronze statue of a dog to the highest point of the tower.
Sculptor Greta van Puyenbroeck made the true-size picture of a fox terrier, but the idea comes from 'De Standaard' photographer Michiel Hendryckx: 'The image puts perspective to the exalted character of the protected monument and its twenty storeys with three million books. What is at the height of science, wisdom and knowledge? A dog.'
If you look closely, you can see the animal from 'Sint Pietersplein'.
