The construction of the new 'Toots Thielemans' metro station started on Monday 7 September. The first phase of the works will consist of the development of the cycle tracks and the securing of the pedestrian walkways. A large roundabout will also be built to enable the work to be carried out without any major changes in traffic.
The construction of the new station and connecting tunnels will begin in mid-October in the Avenue de Stalingrad. The new metro line will link Bordet station, in Evere, to Albert station, in Forest, via the city centre, in 20 minutes. The first section between Albert station and Gare du Nord station will be operational in 2025.
