Today the “Stalingrad Village” has opened its doors in presence of Brieux de Meeûs, CEO of STIB, Elke Van den Brandt, Minister of public transport of the Brussels Capital Region, Philippe Close, Mayor of the City of Brussels and Fabian Maingain, Elderman for Economic Development of the City of Brussels.
It symbolizes the launch of the construction works on September 7th for the new multifunctional metro node near the Midi station, in the centre of Brussels. This important node is part of the new Metro line 3 Bordet - Albert. The ‘Stalingrad Village’ hosts the shops of the ‘Palais du Midi’, inaccessible during the works as the metro will pass underneath them.
