Protect, Brussels
For its headquarters, Protect nv had the clear wish to stay in an urban environment and decided to renovate and extend its old headquarters. The building is situated in Sint-Jans-Molenbeek, a strategic location which provides good access to all transport means in the Avenue Leopold-II, Simonis metro station and walking distance from the North train station.
The volume on the Jetsesteenweg was completely demolished while the one on the Vandernootstraat was refurbished and gained an additional floor. The result of this transformation, L-shaped building of 800m² of residential and 1.000m² of office space, combined with an ingenious stepped garden, creates a high quality work and living space as opposed to the traditional mono-functional office spaces, utterly deserted after working hours.

Both the composition of the façade, using natural stone and zinc coating, and the optimization of the building’s shape to maximize the passive shading, highlight the sustainability of the project.
